| Well done to the twenty odd people that was brave enough to ride to Uniondale on Saturday. The weather was good but very windy on the Pass. Some of us rode 6h44 min to Uniondale , others faster. We climbed 2080m on Saturday . Diner was at Crackling Rosie and did we eat !!! After carbo loading our warm beds were waiting at the Town House (thanks to the electric blankets). Breakfast was at 08h00 and then the fun started. During breakfast it started to rain, with only a little Ford Bantam as back up we had no choice but to ride back to Knysna. So we set off , rain gear and all that we could wear. As we went through the Poort between Uniondale and Avontuur it started to snow , frozen fingers and all we pushed on to De Vlugt where we knew coffie and milktart was waiting. Change of shoes and socks off we went , some only in big ring . Top of Knoetskraal we encountered our first hail storm. With a steady pace we arrived at Buffelsnek to be greeted by more cold wind and snow. Last 32 km home was hair razing with trees falling all over the road. 13 of us finished the ride back in Knysna Well done and thank you to all that came on this unforgettable weekend See you all at Karoo to Coast 21 September 2008 The Team |
